Canyon High Announces Joseph Maiale as
Head Varsity Football Coach
Canyon High School is pleased to announce the hiring of Joe Maiale as the Head
Varsity Football Coach and member of the faculty. Coach Maiale is entering his 15th
year as a high school football coach, most recently coaching at Oxnard High School.
Prior to his tenure at Oxnard High, Coach Maiale coached at Glendale, Harvard
Westlake, Campbell Hall, St. Genevieve and Calabasas. While at Oxnard High, Maiale
helped lead the Yellowjackets to the CIF-SS Division 6 Championship while also serving
as a Special Education teacher. Coach Maiale has a Master’s Degree in Special
Education from National University.
When asked what she felt Coach Maiale would bring to Cowboy Football, Principal
Shellie Holcombe was more than encouraged.
“I am thrilled that Coach Maiale has accepted the position of head coach of the football
program at Canyon. Coach Maiale brings a wealth of knowledge and experience as a
varsity football coach. He knows our mission and vision, and is committed to excellence
in the classroom and on the field, “ Holcombe said. “We’re excited for the vision and direction
of Cowboy Football.”
