Coach Gutierrez – Varsity Head Coach

Coach Gutierrez returns for his fifth year as Head Football Coach of the Cowboys. In his first four seasons as Head Coach, Coach Gutierrez has compiled a record of 30-15-1 overall with 4 consecutive playoff appearances. Coach Gutierrez’s mission in leading the program is to teach life skills at all costs and to do things right at all costs. A program built on commitment, brotherhood, and love. A program where everyone is connected, a program that teaches self-respect and respect for the game of football, while applying these principals to their everyday life. A program that CREATES athletes, not one that depends on them. In addition to being a successful Coach, Coach Gutierrez is an accomplished Special Education Instructor. Coach Gutierrez is a former Department Chair, Mentor Teacher, and William S. Hart USD Teacher of the Year Recipient. He currently teaches Learning Strategies and Health. Outside of that Coach Gutierrez has also taught Math, English, Psychology, Sociology, Science, and has also been a district Administrative Intern. .

When Coach Gutierrez is away from the field, he enjoys camping, reading, eating out, and spending time with his family. Coach Gutierrez has his own special fan club, wife Melissa, who he loves dearly and truly appreciates her exceptional support in his quest in guiding Cowboy Football, daughter Lily, 20, a Canyon High graduate and Son Anthony, 15, who plays for our very own JV, and our newest angel Jonathan, who was born on June 2nd of this current year. Coach Gutierrez feels truly blessed and savors every moment he has the opportunity in representing Cowboy Football and the Cowboy Family.

Coach Gutierrez’s football philosophy is “It's the little details that are vital. Little things make big things happen.”
